Consultation types

To ensure you have enough time to address all your health concerns, please book the appropriate appointment. ​
 If you are not sure, you can ask our receptionists to help.
Standard consultation
15 - 20 minutes
One new illness or symptom, ​colds, vaccinations,
repeat script,  medical certificate, blood pressure check.
Long consultation
30 - 40 minutes
 Procedures, multiple symptoms or concerns, mental health concerns, chronic or complicated conditions.
Prolonged consultation
45 minutes 
​New patient consultations, numerous or complex symptoms or health concerns. 

NEW PATIENT- INITIAL CONSULTATION

CHRONIC DISEASE MANAGEMENT CARE PLANS

For new patients, our practice policy is to book you into either a long or prolonged consultation slot as the doctor needs adequate time to discuss your medical history, in addition to dealing with the reason for the current visit. 
In preparation for your initial consultation please bring all your details including current medications, past history, family history and all relevant cards.  Please attend 10 minutes prior to your appointment time to complete new patient registration form. ​
 A chronic disease management plan enables your GP to proactively plan and coordinate your health care which is tailored to your personal health goals. This can assist you in gaining access to services that are required for ongoing maintenance of your health issues and you may be eligible for Medicare rebates (up to five per calendar year) to see the allied health practitioners such as a physiotherapist, chiropractor, occupational therapist, etc.
These plans are renewed every 12-24 months with reviews undertaken every 3-6 months to enable us to proactively follow up and ensure you are on track with your health goals.

MENTAL HEALTH CARE PLANS WITH ONGOING REVIEWS

A mental health care plan is developed between the patient and GP, to help support someone with a mental health disorder or someone going through mental health issues.  The plan may include referrals to other mental health specialists/supports, strategies for management of mental health and other supports if necessary. 
With a mental health plan, medicare will pay some or all of the cost of up to ten sessions with a mental health professional in a year.

Mental health plan can be renewed every 12 months and should have ongoing reviews to ensure positive patient outcomes. 

PROCEDURES

Skin checks  - A full skin check will take approx. 30 mins in which the doctor will discuss your skin cancer risk factors, take a full examination of your skin and provide advice for skin cancer prevention.  Please ensure you have read the skin check hand out prior to your appointment 

 Excisions/ biopsies/ Removal of lesions - Our doctors perform general procedures as required.  These procedures require expensive single use equipment and special training and are not fully covered by medicare.  You will be invoiced after the pathology results have been reviewed.

 ​ECG’s, Spirometry & ABI – These investigative procedures are all bulk billed, therefore provided at not cost to the patient.  The results of such investigations provide key information to assist your ongoing preventative health needs. 
 

Personal comfort

Some consultations may require procedures or examinations that you may find embarrassing or uncomfortable. We will endeavour to provide you with all of the relevant information regarding what to expect and will assure you that it will be carried out professionally.

If for any reason you do not feel comfortable during a consultation, please let your clinician know immediately and they will endeavour to correct the situation. ​

Appointment reminders

​Seaview Health offers an appointment text message reminder service, whereby a reminder text message will be generated one working day prior to your appointment.  If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, we kindly ask that you call our reception staff and let us know at least 24 hours before your booked appointment. ​
​This reminder does not take into account nurse appointment time, so please arrive early if you are seeing the nurse.

To reduce waiting times for you and others, please arrive on time. 

Fees and billing

Here at Seaview Health, we are predominantly a private billing practice, with discounted rates for pension and health care card holders.  A medicare rebate will apply to most consultation fees.  At the time of payment, the claim for medicare rebate will be sent and it will be directly deposited into your account usually within 24-48hrs. 
Consultations for Chronic disease management plans, the reviews of these plans are bulk billed and general consultations may be bulk billed at the discretion of the doctor.  Please discuss with your doctor if your medical care is causing you financial difficulties.   
 Patients are asked to settle their account in full on the day of consultation. We accept Cash, Credit card,  or EFTPOS.  ​

Cancelled or missed appointments

 We  understand that there may be situations when you will need to cancel or reschedule your appointments, and we appreciate notice in advance when this happens.  This ensures that we are able to give other patients the care they need and can keep our services on a timely schedule.

If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, we kindly ask that you call our reception staff and let us know at least 24 hours before your booked appointment to ensure you are not charged a missed appointment fee. ​
